Short blurb
Little skiers want to feel like they're doing it themselves. Snap Two Ski tethers let them. Two straps go on at the boots and a control tether runs back to you, so you handle the speed and they get to just ski. Made in the USA and used in Midwest ski schools for more than 25 years. $44.99 at snaptwoski.com.
Longer story
Little skiers want to feel like they're doing it themselves. Snap Two Ski tethers let them. Straps go on at the boots and a control tether runs back to the parent, so the grown-up handles the speed and the kid does the skiing. Because it attaches at the ankles instead of the waist, kids stay centered over their skis, find their own balance and feel real turns from day one.
Snap Two Ski started more than 25 years ago with Pizza Pam Farmer and the Hot Cocoa Club, the parent and child ski program at Hyland Hills in Minnesota's Twin Cities. Thousands of families have learned with it since. Today it's run by Andrew Reinhart, a dad of three and a PSIA Level 3 instructor. When kids feel safe they have fun, and when they have fun they learn faster.

The one-liner
"You handle the speed. They focus on the fun."
"What ages is it for?"
Best for ages 2 to 6. It also works for younger kids who are walking, and for older kids who want some extra support getting past the nerves on their first laps.
Who to offer it to
Any parent buying or leasing gear for a little one who's just starting out. It pairs with kids' rentals, seasonal leases and new gear sales.
"How's it different from a harness?"
It attaches at the ankles, not the waist. Kids keep their own balance and stay centered over their skis instead of getting pulled off them from above.
"Is it hard to use?"
Two straps and a buckle. The straps go on the boots and can stay on all day. Clip in at the top of the run and go slow.
"Do I need to be a good skier?"
No. If you can make a controlled wedge (a snowplow), you can use it. Your kid skis in front and you set the pace.

Meet the owner
Andrew Reinhart, Owner
Andrew Reinhart owns Snap Two Ski. He's a dad of three and a PSIA Level 3 instructor who has been skiing since he was 3 years old. Over the last decade he has taught thousands of kids in the Midwest, where short days and cold winters teach you to make skiing work in all conditions. He also volunteers with the Courage Kenny Adaptive Ski & Snowboard program, because growing the sport should mean making it accessible to everyone. He took over Snap Two Ski in 2025 from its founder, Pam Farmer, and his approach is simple. Kids need to feel safe first, and when they're having fun, the skiing takes care of itself.
What Andrew can talk about
- Teaching your own kid to ski without the meltdowns, and how to plan a first day on snow.
- Confidence before technique. Why kids learn faster when they feel safe and they're having fun.
- Ankles or harness. What each one does to a young skier's balance.
- The Hot Cocoa Club story. How a Minnesota parent and child program shaped a product still in use more than 25 years later.
- Family ski days in the Midwest. Making it work on small hills, in the cold, on a budget.
